このたび「第15回日本マーモセット研究会大会」を、2026年1月20日（火）・21日（水）の2日間にわたり、群馬県高崎市・高崎シティギャラリーにて開催する運びとなりました。

日本マーモセット研究会は、2010年に設立されて以来、マーモセットの実験動物としての開発および、その知見の医学・薬学・再生医療・創薬などの生命科学分野への応用を促進し、学術水準の向上に貢献することを目的に活動してまいりました。

マーモセットはラットと同程度の体重をもつ霊長類であり、ヒトとげっ歯類をつなぐモデル動物として、基礎研究からトランスレーショナルリサーチに至るまで多くの利点を有しています。我が国はマーモセット研究の分野で世界をリードしており、今後さらにこの勢いを加速させていくことが、近年低迷が指摘される日本の科学研究全体の活性化にもつながるものと確信しております。

本大会では、マーモセット研究に携わる多くの研究者が一堂に会し、最新の研究成果を共有し、共同研究の端緒を築く貴重な場となることを目指しております。貴社におかれましても本大会の趣旨にご賛同いただき、ご支援を賜れますようお願い申し上げます。

なお、開催地である群馬県は、2024年の「移住希望地ランキング」で第1位となり、首都圏からのアクセスの良さが大きな魅力となっています。高崎駅は北陸新幹線と上越新幹線が分岐するハブ駅で、東京駅から約50分、高崎シティギャラリーへも徒歩10分程度と至便です。より多くの参加者が見込まれるとともに、内容面でも一層充実した大会となるよう準備を進めております。

Greetings from the Chair

We are pleased to announce that the 15th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Marmoset Research Society will be held over two days, January 20 (Tue) and 21 (Wed), 2026, at the Takasaki City Gallery in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture.

Since its founding in 2010, the Japanese Marmoset Research Society has been committed to advancing the development of marmosets as experimental animals and promoting their application in the fields of medicine, pharmacology, regenerative medicine, and drug discovery. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to the dissemination of relevant knowledge and techniques, as well as to the overall elevation of scientific standards.

The marmoset, a primate species with a body weight comparable to that of a rat, serves as a crucial model organism that bridges the gap between rodents and humans. Its utility spans from basic scientific inquiry to translational research, offering significant advantages across a wide range of biomedical studies. Japan currently leads the world in marmoset research, and we firmly believe that by accelerating this momentum, we can revitalize the nation's broader scientific landscape, which has been facing challenges in recent years.

This annual meeting will provide a vital forum where a diverse community of researchers involved in marmoset science can gather, exchange the latest findings, and foster new collaborations. We sincerely hope that your organization will resonate with the aims of this meeting and consider offering your generous support.

Gunma Prefecture, the host region, ranked first in Japan’s “Most Desired Places to Relocate” list in 2024-thanks in part to its excellent accessibility from the Tokyo metropolitan area. Takasaki Station, where the Hokuriku and Joetsu Shinkansen (bullet train) lines diverge, is only 50 minutes from Tokyo by Shinkansen. The venue, Takasaki City Gallery, is just a 10-minute walk from the station, making it extremely convenient for attendees. We anticipate increased participation this year and are preparing to offer an academically enriched and engaging program.
